Bundesliga Preview Round 6 – Betting Tips 2016/17

Bundesliga Preview Round 6 – Undefeated Koln head to the Allianz Arena

Four teams remain undefeated in the Bundesliga this season and two of them go head-to-head in the Allianz Arena this Saturday.  Bayern Munich, while perhaps not being as impressive so far under Carlo Ancelotti, as they were with Pep Guardiola in charge, have enjoyed a 100% start to the season nonetheless.  Sitting pretty at the top of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich welcome another undefeated team to Bavaria this weekend, as they take on Koln.  Koln have won three and drawn two of their games this season and have looked particularly strong in defence, conceding just two goals.  That defence will be tested to the maximum by Bayern Munich, who should come through victorious but it will not be a comfortable ride.  Bayern Munich are 1.17 with Bet365, to win the match and maintain their 100% record.

Best Bet

Hoffenheim are one of the four unbeaten teams in the Bundesliga this season but winning games, has been their biggest problem.  Having drawn their first four matches, they finally turned a corner last weekend, defeating Schalke 2-1 at home.  This week, they face Ingolstadt, a team who have lost their last four games in the Bundesliga and are low on confidence.  A win here for Hoffenheim, will turn a decent start to the season, into a good start to the season.

Best Bet:  Hoffenheim to Win is 3.6 at Bet365

Bet to Avoid

Wolfsburg host Mainz this weekend in the Bundesliga and the bookies have the hosts down as being favourites to take maximum points.  However, Wolfsburg have been struggling this season and have picked up only 2 points from the last possible 12 available.  Mainz lost out to a late Javier Hernandez goal last week but have made a decent start to the season and will cause Wolfsburg plenty of problems.

Bundesliga Round 6 Matches

RB Leipzig vs Augsburg

It’s been a great start to life in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig, who have received much criticism from other German clubs, about the way the club is run.  However, they are yet to taste defeat and come into this game on 9 points, 2 ahead of Augsburg, who’s form has picked up of late.  The visitors will be no pushover but Leipzig look a decent outfit and will be confident of taking maximum points from this game.

Bayern Munich vs FC Koln

As expected, Bayern Munich are sitting top of the Bundesliga at this early stage but Koln are also unbeaten this season and will be looking forward to testing themselves in the Allianz Arena.  Bayern have a trip to Madrid to contend with in mid-week but this should not prevent them from being at their best.  Bayern have lost one of their last twenty-one home matches in the league, a run which is set to continue.

Darmstadt vs Werder Bremen

A horrible couple of weeks for Werder Bremen came to an end last weekend, as they defeated Wolfsburg, to claim their first league win of the season.  Defensively, Werder Bremen have been poor and are yet to keep a clean sheet.  Darmstadt have also been struggling this season and have only picked up 1 point, from the last 9 available.  Norbert Meier’s team are undefeated at home however and this is a run they will want to continue.

Freiburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Following their promotion from the second division last season, Freiburg have found life tough on the road in the Bundesliga but when playing at home, seem to be a different proposition.  In their two home games this season, Christian Streich’s team have defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 and Hamburg 1-0.  Eintracht performed well at Ingolstadt but lost at Darmstadt, with their home form keeping in the top half of the table.  Freiburg could make it three out of three at the Schwarzwald Stadion.

Hertha Berlin vs Hamburg

Despite dropping down to 6th place in the Bundesliga over the course of the last week, Hertha Berlin have enjoyed a good start to their 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign.  Having won their first three games, the schedule gave them two away games in a week, at Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, picking up a point at the latter.  Hamburg on the other hand, have been struggling and this looks like being a home win.

Ingolstadt vs Hoffenheim

Having picked up a point at Hamburg on the opening day of the season, things have gone downhill rapidly for Ingolstadt, who enjoyed a good 2015/16 season.  Markus Kauczinski’s team have lost their last four matches in the Bundesliga and come up against a Hoffenheim team who are yet to taste defeat, drawing four and winning one, which was last week.  Hoffenheim will see this as an opportunity to build on their solid start to the season.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund

The late kick-off on Saturday is perhaps the pick of the weekend fixtures, as two teams who have been involved in some high scoring games this season in the Bundesliga, meet at the BayArena.  Having failed to win since the opening day of the season, Leverkusen got back to winning ways last weekend, coming out on top 3-2, in a thrilling game at Mainz.  However, Dortmund have been in majestic form of late, scoring plenty of goals and the home defence will find it difficult to keep them out.

Wolfsburg vs Mainz 05

Since the opening day of the season, winning 2-0 at Augsburg, Wolfsburg have struggled to win games in the Bundesliga, drawing two and losing two, a run which sees them in 13th place.  Mainz were unbeaten until last weekend, when they let a lead slip away, in a 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.  This could be a close game, with a draw as distinct possibility.

Schalke 04 vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Schalke have endured a miserable start to their 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign and are yet to pick up a single point.  Last weekend, having taken the lead at Hoffenheim, they failed to hold on to the advantage and were 2-1 down before half-time and that’s how the match finished.  Borussia Monchengladbach have picked up 7 points from the last possible 9 but have only managed a draw and a defeat away from this season.  Confidence is so low at the Veltins Arena, Monchengladbach will see this as an opportunity to win their first away game of the current campaign.
